This week, Economic and Earnings News Deluge!
Corporate Earnings reports, economic reports, and Tariff deals provide plenty to debate this week.
Last week Japan and the US reached a trade agreement, providing a catalyst for the market to move higher. For the week, the Dow rose 1.29%, the S&P 500 1.55%, the Nasdaq 1.19%, and the Russell 2000 .85%.
Over the pond, foreign stocks moved higher by 2.61% and emerging market stocks went up by .91%.
Interest rates remained range-bound with the 10-year US Treasury finishing the week yielding 4.386%.

Corporate Earnings Reports
169 S&P 500 companies have reported 2nd quarter profits with 82% beating estimates. This week we will hear from 151 more companies including META, Microsoft, Amazon, Apple, Proctor and Gamble, and Boeing.
How will the upcoming tariffs affect CEO decision making and profits going forward? Companies have had several months to plan strategy based on various tariff scenarios.

Economic Reports This Week
Tuesday we will hear the JOLTS Jobs Report announcing the number of job openings available.
Wednesday, the ADP Employment change, the Federal Reserve Rate decision and the first read on 2nd quarter Gross Domestic Product (GDP)
Thursday, the Fed’s favorite inflation gauge, the Personal Consumption Expenditures index.
Friday, all important Nonfarm, Private and Manufacturing Payrolls (Jobs) report for July.

Tariffs August 1st
Many countries have been provided a timeline of August 1st to negotiate their trade deal with the United States. With many important countries not yet finalized, this week may witness updates and hopefully more concrete information. I would not be surprised if some dates were extended.
Japan and the US made a deal last week. The EU and the US announced a deal on July 27th. Still lurking beyond the August 1st deadline is China, August 12th.
